The Director of Financial Management at Esplanade Golf & Country Club plays a crucial strategic and analytical role in the community’s long‑term financial health. This position conducts financial analysis, coordinates cross‑departmental initiatives, and manages special projects that support the club’s financial objectives. The role works closely with the Property Controller, who is responsible for the ongoing daily accounting functions, including preparing monthly financial statements and reports, ensuring that ongoing financial information is accurate, timely and member‑friendly.

Job Responsibilities
  • Implements and adheres to policies and procedures for the Financial Management function, including compliance with all company accounting standards.
  • Assists with policy and procedure updates and compliance with all statute 720 HOA requirements.
  • Provides oversight and recommendations to the club’s overall investment strategy and long‑term goals based on the club’s mission and vision.
  • Reconciles and audits multiple bank and investment accounts.
  • Partners with the Property Controller to ensure financial information used in reporting and analysis is accurate and timely.
  • Works with the Property Controller, General Manager and Management Team to prepare and monitor annual budgets, reserve allocations, revenue and expense goals, business volume forecasts, and financial strategic planning.
  • Leads multi‑year financial planning, including capital and reserve projections for a multi‑amenity club environment.
  • Participates in long‑term strategic planning of the property, monitoring and coordinating property plans of overall future strategic objectives, including analysis of projected revenue, costs, net income, cash position, cash management, and capital requirement updates, assessments, capital projects, and reserve planning.
  • Updates Reserve Study/Capital Asset Planning.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs additional duties as required.
Analysis and Reporting
  • Conducts specialized financial analyses related to operating budgets, departmental performance, reserve studies, dues and assessment modeling, and cost‑benefit evaluations.
  • Maintains organized financial records, committee archives, and project documentation.
  • Prepares dashboards, charts, and presentations that translate complex financial data into clear, member‑friendly insights.
  • Works closely with the Property Controller, who prepares monthly financial statements, interprets results, validates data, and develops additional analysis as needed.
  • Analyzes departmental profitability and member utilization trends to support operational and strategic decision‑making.
  • Presents financial statements and supporting schedules that identify actual versus budget, variance, and over/under figures to the General Manager, Treasurer, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors.
  • Produces communications to members regarding financial analysis and outcomes.
Special Projects and Strategic Initiatives
  • Leads and supports major initiatives such as:
    • Capital Asset Management and Capital Asset Requests Processes and Procedures (capital asset replacement, additions and disposal, and Reserve Study management).
    • Capital improvement planning (clubhouse renovations, golf course upgrades, amenity expansions).
    • Vendor contract evaluations, cost‑saving initiatives, and operational efficiency projects.
    • Member experience enhancements with financial or operational implications.
    • Technology and process improvements within finance and operations.
  • Conducts research on HOA best practices, private club financial trends, and industry benchmarks.
  • Manages project timelines, stakeholder communication, and deliverables from concept through completion.
  • Conducts due diligence for large‑scale initiatives, including contractor comparisons, feasibility studies, and financial impact modeling.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and six to ten years of related experience.
  • Experience in the hospitality industry, HOA community and/or private clubs.
  • Experience with Clubessential-Jonas POS/Accounting software a plus.
  • CPA license preferred, not required.
