Job Summary

The Radiographer – Medical Assistant is responsible for providing basic care to patients following established standards and practices and the production of quality radiographic images through knowledge of radiologic sciences and patient care.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

– Other duties may be assigned.

  • Triages patients, perform vitals, verify allergies & medications, medical & surgical history, and tobacco use.
  • Answering patient phone calls and messages, acting as a communication liaison between the patient and provider.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of safe medication administration; administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and organize patient care.
  • Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination and testing of patients.
  • Performs blood draws, urine dips, rapid streps, influenza, mono, CMP, CBC, injections, EKGs, dressing changes and splinting.
  • Handling of specimens, performing lab testing in a timely manner. Verifying results in EPIC. Daily & monthly QC controls for all POCT, Piccolo, and CBC machines. Verify integrity and dating of all lab reagents. Confirms abnormal results with Physician on duty.
  • Assist in ordering of reagents, lab supplies, and medical supplies.
  • Produces images which demonstrate a thorough knowledge of radiographic technique (collimation,  and patient demographics), anatomical positioning, equipment performance and department positioning.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures with minimal exposure to self and patients.
  • Demonstrate proper radiation safety and general practices for patient, self, and others.
  • Demonstrate competency using PACS.
  • Responsible for ensuring that proper maintenance of the x-ray machine is scheduled and performed as required.
  • Knows the general condition of the equipment at all times, knows how to operate all equipment required in the course of performing procedures. Documents failures in a timely manner
Education, Experience And Qualifications
  • High School or GED required.
  • Completion of Medical Assistant or practical nursing training program with documented clinical practicum hours; OR Medical Assistant certification; OR a minimum of one-year experience in medical office setting as a Medical Assistant or like role.
  • Satisfactory completion of a formal Radiologic Technology Program in an approved school.
  • Registered ARRT R (Radiography).
  • Licensed as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) in the State of Florida.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Knowledge of basic and specialty specific medical terminology.
  • Capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions while maintaining a professional demeanor and control.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge:
    Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
