Responsibilities- Perform specialized maintenance work in an assigned section of the Public Utilities Department.
- Perform skilled labor work in the construction, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of Wastewater Treatment Plants, including a variety of manual labor tasks.
- Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on plant equipment and processes such as sand filters, grit systems, bar screens, irrigation systems, lift stations, pumps, blowers, motors; maintain facility odor control units, calibrate meters, conduct chemical cleaning, and related maintenance and repairs; maintain facility grounds, including trash removal, pressure washing, and painting of all structures, processes, and equipment.
- Coordinate valve maintenance activities; raise/lower valve boxes; replace damaged, defective, or outdated valves.
- Follow safety procedures, utilize safety equipment, and monitor the work environment to ensure safety of employees and others.
- Prepare, complete and/or receive various forms, reports, correspondence, checklists, work orders, valve isolation forms, valve maintenance forms, data recorder sheets, pump activity reports, lift station sheets, maintenance reports, charts, timecards, leave requests, calibration logs or other documents.
- Communicate with supervisor, employees, other divisions, contractors, utility companies, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status, exchange information, or resolve problems.
- Perform other duties as assigned for upkeep, maintenance or repairs of the Wastewater Treatment Facility.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared or declared emergency. On an incident‑by‑incident basis, the County’s Administrative Office will determine who is required to work.

Physical ability:
Tasks require the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials.
Sensory requirements:
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental factors:
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature, noise extremes, fumes, hazardous materials, confined spaces, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim light, toxic agents, disease, or pathogenic substances.
- High school diploma or GED
* required. - One (1) year of related experience.
- Fingerprinting required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805.
- Salary offers above the minimum pay grade may be considered based on qualifications.
No supervisory responsibility for this position.
