The RN Navigator in Cardiothoracic Surgery works independently to plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients. They collaborate with the Cardiac Surgery department and inter‑professional team, provide direct nursing care, assume teaching and leadership responsibilities, and participate in shared decision‑making, referrals, and pre‑ and post‑operative care.

Key duties include:

• Monitoring and rapidly responding to referrals from physicians and hospitals to expedite access to the program.
• Triage referrals based on written criteria to prioritize patient needs.
• Communicating acceptance plans to referring physicians and hospitals and coordinating patient transfers to tertiary care centers when necessary.
• Educating patients and families about the referral process, evaluation steps, and maintaining continuous information flow.
• Demonstrating professional leadership and collaborating with the inter‑professional team to deliver safe, effective, and financially responsible nursing services.

• BSN preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in cardiac care.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Florida.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving, and flexibility skills.
• Intermediate computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows).

• Up to $85,000 annually, depending on experience.
