Reports To: Store Manager

The Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties, including determining methods and approaches to accomplish the store’s goals. The Assistant Manager is knowledgeable in each product area or department in the store. Upholds policies, procedures and standards listed in the visual manual. The Assistant Manager is passionate about delivering outstanding customer service and promoting merchandise.

The Assistant Manager assumes supervisory control in the Store Manager’s absence and is trained in Store Manager responsibilities.

• Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear.
• Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans to accomplish departmental and store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
• Assume responsibility of the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Assist in overall personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
• Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
• Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in all departments.
• Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are met.
• Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
• Maintain quality customer service.
• Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
• Provide extraordinary customer service as outlined in the customer service manual, including assisting customers as they enter the store and helping multiple customers during peak periods.
• Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett I City Gear.
• Uphold all company policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the operations, personnel, and customer service manuals, and related company communications.
• Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management of potential risk.

Supervises employees in the absence of the Store Manager. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; and resolving problems.

• Experience in a retail environment, preferably footwear and athletic apparel.
• 1-3 years of customer service experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to assist in managing a team and achieving overall goals and profitability.
• Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately.
