- Valid Class E driver license.
- Occasional to moderate travel required.
- May be required to respond to emergencies, including natural disasters.
This full‑time position is at the Caloosahatchee Forestry Center in Naples, FL, and involves managing invasive exotic plants that alter plant communities by displacing native species. Responsibilities focus on field work, chemical treatment, data collection, and equipment maintenance.
- Search for invasive plants in the field and log locations using GPS.
- Map locations on ArcGIS (Arc Map) and perform data entry.
- Mix and apply chemical herbicides with hand sprayers, backpack sprayers, ATV tanks, or truck tanks.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of vehicles and spray equipment.
- Work in occasionally extreme conditions in hard‑to‑access, hot, and humid forests.
- Learn and differentiate plant species.
- Participation in state group insurance (eligible employees).
- Participation in the Florida Deferred Compensation Plan (457b).
- Participation in the State of Florida 401(a) FICA Alternative Plan.
