DescriptionThe primary responsibilities are to provide support to the Emergency Housing program of St. Matthew’s House by completing daily tasks as determined in the program guidelines. The individual must be organized, possess strong personal and professional boundaries, be skilled in conflict resolution, demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, a positive attitude, and willingness to work together with team members.
Essential Leadership Tasks- Works a variety of shifts including second and third shifts and weekends
- Enters accurate objective documentation into the Mission Tracker system
- Checks daily to ensure residents’ living areas are properly maintained and in compliance with Shelter guidelines
- Assists in directing child care, school enrollment, and other family programming responsibilities
- Supervises family dorms and evaluates cleanliness
- Creates structured routines and consistent program guidelines with families
- Prepares and maintains objective case notes and/or comments on residents during the week, including follow‑up
- Assesses child and family needs to create referrals to agencies based on resident’s needs and in accordance with their case plan
- Performs random bed checks to ensure all residents are accounted for during overnight shift coverage
- Assists in use of NCEF funds for family needs
- Administers random drug screens on residents as required
- Sorts hygiene supplies into the appropriate storage containers
- Creates a minimum number of hygiene kits while working the front‑desk shift
- Removes and stores discharged residents’ personal items per program guidelines
- Provides transportation for residents to appropriate appointments and events
- Has knowledge of the phone system and how to transfer calls
- Works as a team with other staff members to ensure completion of assigned tasks
- Properly screens individuals who are attempting to enter the shelter after hours
- Assists and supports the intake department with various tasks as needed
- Treats all residents with respect and exercises appropriate boundaries with residents
- Has knowledge of all guidelines located in the Shelter Handbook and holds residents accountable for guidelines
- Presents the Gospel message to residents when the opportunity is available
- Prays with residents and staff as opportunities are available
- Completes all job duties with St. Matthew’s House core values as the guiding principle
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
- Experience: Experience working with addiction and mental health is a plus.
- Confidentiality: Works with highly confidential information. Familiar with HIPAA laws.
- Mental/Visual Demands: Flow of work requires normal mental and visual capabilities.
- Physical Demand: Must be able to stand for a minimum of 4 hours at a time and lift at least 25 pounds. Must be able to bend or kneel to the ground.
- Working Conditions: Normal office environment.
