About the RoleWe’re hiring a Shop Maintenance Engineer to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on the paving division’s truck fleet and equipment. This role plays a critical part in minimizing downtime and supporting construction operations through reliable, well‑maintained equipment.
This is a full‑time, year‑round position.
What You’ll Do- Perform preventative maintenance on dump trucks, pavers, and related equipment
- Diagnose mechanical issues and complete required repairs
- Retrieve and repair disabled vehicles as needed
- Maintain accurate equipment maintenance logs and records
- Use diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot equipment issues
Perform welding and burning tasks as required - Follow all safety regulations and shop procedures
- Maintain regular in‑person attendance
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
- Prolonged periods of standing and working in a shop environment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to safely access and navigate the facility, including climbing ladders
- Willingness to work outside of normal business hours as operational needs require
- Strong experience maintaining and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment
- Knowledge of drive trains, transmissions, axles, hydraulic, electrical, and fuel systems
- Welding and burning skills preferred
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and programs such as Cummins Insight, WABCO Tool Box, and Allison DOC
- Possession of mechanic’s tools
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), or willingness to obtain within 12 months
- Strong communication, math, and computer skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Vocational training in automotive technology preferred
- Five or more years of automotive or fleet maintenance experience preferred
