Harvest Scale Operator Job Description
The Harvest Scale Operator supports harvest operations by accurately scaling trucks, maintaining precise records, and serving as a key point of contact for internal and external customers. This role follows established standard operating procedures and work instructions to ensure growers and carriers are paid correctly, while contributing to a safe, fast-paced, and customer-focused environment. This is not a temp-to-hire position and is specifically for a 2nd shift assignment.
Responsibilities- Scale in and out trucks carrying green corn cobs, soybeans, discard, and other seed loads using standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Perform accurate recordkeeping to ensure growers and carriers receive correct payments.
- Print scale tickets, seed load tickets, and other required paperwork for each load.
- Calculate and verify information on the computer and physical tickets to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Create, update, and maintain information in Excel spreadsheets to track loads and related data.
- Maintain records in systems such as Global Seed, Seed Pro, and SharePoint in accordance with site procedures.
- Answer incoming phone calls and direct callers to the appropriate staff or department.
- Greet incoming visitors and provide appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external customers, providing courteous and timely assistance.
- Maintain an orderly, clean, and organized work area to support safety and efficiency.
- Follow all site policies, including seatbelt and electronic device policies, while on site and operating vehicles.
- Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance and arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
- Work flexible hours, including some overtime and weekend work, as needed to support harvest operations.
- Perform repetitive computer keyboard operations and sit or stand for extended periods as required by daily tasks.
- Handle other duties as assigned to support harvest and administrative operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency, including working with databases.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Data entry skills with strong accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated customer service skills when interacting with internal and external customers.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain and protect confidential information.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive motion related to computer keyboard operation.
- Flexibility to work some overtime and weekend hours.

Skills & Qualifications
- Administrative work experience is preferred.
- Experience working in a fast-paced operational or agricultural environment is beneficial.
- Comfort using systems such as Global Seed, Seed Pro, and SharePoint, or the ability to learn them quickly.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain orderly records and work areas.
- Comfort interacting with visitors and providing PPE as needed.
- Ability to adapt to varying shift times within the 2nd shift window.
- Willingness to follow detailed standard operating procedures and work instructions.
