The City of Nashua, NH with an annual general fund budget of approximately $361 million, seeks a highly qualified professional to join its management team as the Deputy Treasurer/Deputy Tax Collector. This Charter position pursuant to RSA 48:16 is appointed by the mayor and is confirmed by the Board of Aldermen.
JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIESUnder the direction of the Treasurer / Tax Collector, this position is responsible for assisting with the managerial and operational functions of the Treasurer and Tax Collector Offices. The position is responsible for managing property tax and other municipal revenue collection activities, including wastewater, solid waste, sewer services, miscellaneous Public Works receivables and miscellaneous billings. The position also manages the Motor Vehicle Registration Department and assumes the duties of the Treasurer / Tax Collector during the Treasurer / Tax Collector’s temporary incapacity as provided by statute.
This is a full-time Unaffiliated position, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, and provides an excellent work life balance. The salary is dependent upon experience.
- Bachelor's degree in business or accounting. Specialized training includes government finance, customer service, human relations, personal-computer software, time and employee management, State statutes, legislation, City ordinances and policies, and employee contracts.
- Five to eight years of similar or related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must have direct experience as a Tax Collector, municipal and motor vehicle experience a plus
- State of New Hampshire certification in Tax Collection / Tax Collector is preferred and is required within five years of accepting the position.
