Position SummaryThe Payroll Administrator is responsible for processing weekly payroll for both union and non-union employees. This role manages timekeeping review, payroll changes, deductions, and pay distribution while maintaining strict confidentiality. You'll also assist with payroll‑related vendor reconciliations and support union‑related payroll payments.
This role may also provide backup support for benefits administration tasks, including employee enrollments, eligibility verifications, deductions and coordination with benefits carriers as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Process and support weekly payroll for union and non‑union employees.
- Collect, review, and validate timekeeping information in the HRIS.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records (pay rates, tax changes, deductions, department/status changes, etc.).
- Enter and verify new hire payroll data in the payroll system.
- Process involuntary deductions (garnishments, levies, child support orders, and related items) in compliance with federal and state requirements.
- Investigate and resolve timekeeping and payroll discrepancies through research and analysis.
- Provide backup support for benefits enrollment and administration tasks.
- Process employment verifications.
- Assist with new hire benefit enrollments, terminations, and qualifying life events.
- Provide support during annual open enrollment, including assisting with employee questions and administrative tasks.
- Support benefits deduction review, carrier invoice reconciliation and assist with resolving discrepancies.
- Maintain payroll files and ensure confidentiality of all employees and company information in accordance with applicable privacy laws and company policy.
- Assist in processing payments/reconciliations for two union organizations.
- 3–5+ years of payroll experience required (multi‑state payroll experience preferred).
- Experience with HRIS/payroll platforms (iSolved preferred).
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with detailed payroll data.
- High attention to detail, excellent organization, and strong follow‑through.
- Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional, discreet, and committed to confidentiality.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
