Facilities Services Assistant II (Third Shift)
Join Great Bay Community College as a Facilities Services Assistant II (Third Shift). This is a 3rd shift position that includes a $1.05 per hour shift differential.
Scope of WorkPerforms a broad range of general and routine custodial, grounds, and/or building maintenance duties on the 3rd shift. Tasks may require the operation of maintenance equipment and driving. This position reports to the 3rd Shift Facilities Services Supervisor at Nashua Community College.
Accountabilities- Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing offices, classrooms, labs, hallways, lavatories, including stripping, washing, and waxing floors, vacuuming, emptying wastebaskets, dry mopping, cleaning walls, furniture, etc., and performing other custodial duties as required.
- Maintains the appropriate use of high quantity costly chemicals as part of the floor maintenance and general cleaning program and selects the appropriate chemicals based on the task to be performed.
- Operates all types of automatic floor scrubbing machines and high-speed floor buffing machines as part of a floor maintenance program.
- Uses disinfectants, sanitizers, and cleaning compounds correctly to avoid contamination of food prep areas.
- Performs general grounds maintenance duties including snow removal and salting, entrance upkeep, mowing lawns, and ensuring outdoor premises are clean and orderly.
- Performs general painting assignments, moves/relocates furniture, and conducts general repairs as necessary.
- Assists in overseeing safety and security of all buildings, grounds, equipment, and campus personnel; reports safety concerns to supervisor or Campus Safety Office.
- Serves on campus or system committees and teams.
- Complies with all system, college, state, and federal rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or high school equivalency. Driver's license required.
- One (1) year of experience in custodial, grounds, and/or building maintenance, including operation of cleaning, grounds, or maintenance equipment. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of the operation and care of electric sweepers, mop wringers, brushes, and other household cleaning equipment.
- Familiarity with materials, equipment, and methods commonly employed in office cleaning operations.
- Ability to understand and carry out simple instructions.
- Ability to make minor repairs to cleaning equipment.
- Physical strength to withstand manual labor of strenuous work conditions.
- Willingness to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties.
