POSITION: Custodian 2nd Shift Grade 1
LOCATION: Mount Pleasant Elementary School
WORK YEAR: Year Round: 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM (Monday through Friday)
STARTING: ASAP
SALARY RANGE: $21.40/hr (Grade
1) after 90 day probationary period. During probationary period, the wage rate will be $2.00 less per hour.
NOTE: All Grade 1 Custodians hired on or after 11/01/2019 shall be hired with a 'District Wide' custodial designation per Union Agreement.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school education or equivalent. One year’s experience in janitorial routines. Physical ability to perform assigned duties including walking, bending, standing for long periods, climbing stairs and ladders, crawling in confined spaces, working at a minimum height of 15 to 20 feet above ground, lifting and carrying objects weighing a minimum of 100 lbs with assistance, and working with cleaning, snow removal, lawn care equipment, and construction/maintenance products.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Head Custodian in maintaining the school building and grounds in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
- Sweep and mop floors in assigned building areas; wash windows and glass partitions; check and change light bulbs as needed.
- Assist with moving furniture and equipment; perform minor emergency repairs; routinely maintain and have a working knowledge of all required janitorial equipment.
- Aide in emergency cleanups; report problems observed in and around the building such as vandalism.
- Assist with snow removal near building entrances when required; assist in the cafeteria operations daily.
- Perform any other job related duties as may be assigned by the Head Custodian or Plant Operations Supervisor.
