Position Overview:

An Assembler 3 at MACOM is responsible for assembling micro-electronic components and precision electromechanical parts according to product specifications for the RF and microwave industry. This role requires ability to interpret blueprints, assembly drawings and diagrams, and supporting production processes to ensure efficient machine operation and achievement of production targets. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with hand soldering, manual die attach, manual substrate attach, and manual wire bonding.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assemble and repair precision electromechanical parts, assemblies, and equipment.

* Perform hand soldering, manual die attach, substrate attach, and wire bonding operations with high precision.

* Experienced at using soldering irons, manual die attach and manual ball/wedge bonders.

* Align, fit, and assemble component parts into completed units using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and templates.

Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to blueprint specifications using instruments such as microscopes, micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.

* Examine parts for defects, perform repairs and rework, and calibrate assemblies to meet operational tolerances.

* Prepare work by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gather parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.

* Position parts and subassemblies using templates or by reading measurements.

* Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Key Competencies &

Skills Required:

* Proficiency in manual die attach, substrate attach, and wire bonding techniques.

* Experience in hand soldering and manually placing small components onto electrical assemblies.

* Ability to follow travelers, standard operating procedures, and interpret assembly drawings.

* Skilled in using microscopes for inspection to ensure the highest quality standards.

* Ability to solve standard problems using existing procedures and experience; analyze information and apply standard assembly practices.

Required Qualifications and

Experience:

* High School degree or equivalent. May be currently taking or just completed vocational level training in a related field.

* 5 years of related work experience.

* MIL-STD-750, MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-38534

* ANSI/ESD S20.20 protocols

* IPC-610 and J-STD 1 a plus

Physical Requirements:

This role requires the ability to sit and perform detailed work under a microscope for extended periods of time (8-hour shift, excluding scheduled breaks). This position may also involve standing, walking, and traveling to other areas within the facility to conduct inspections or support related tasks.
