Job Summary
A registered nurse (RN) on the Geropsychiatric Unit performs comprehensive nursing care activities, including assessment, monitoring, documentation, medication administration, therapeutic interventions, and discharge planning.
Responsibilities- Execute comprehensive nursing care activities on the Geropsychiatric Unit.
- Assess, monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patient conditions.
- Maintain accurate patient reports and medical histories.
- Perform mental and physical assessments and administer medication and treatment.
- Provide assistance to patients with daily activities and observe reactions.
- Manage therapeutic milieu activities, including daily groups, education, and individual 1:1 sessions.
- Collaborate with members of the treatment team, physicians, multidisciplinary team members, and outside health and social agencies.
- Complete individualized treatment plans upon admission and ongoing with the multidisciplinary team.
- Plan, implement, and coordinate nursing care activities for patients.
- Conduct therapies in accordance with patient diagnosis and needs.
- Perform treatment interventions following physician orders, such as medication administration and medical treatment orders.
- Provide efficient discharge plans and obtain accurate histories at admission.
- Complete all required documentation relevant to patients in a timely, efficient manner (e.g., admission paperwork, assessments, progress notes).
- Education:
2‑year associate’s degree or diploma from a 3‑year nursing program required; bachelor’s degree preferred. - Valid State of New Hampshire RN license.
- BLS (or BCLS) certification required.
- One year of previous nursing experience preferred.
- Medical terminology required.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to conduct interventions, evaluations, discharge paperwork, and CQI+ data.
- Ability to assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards and measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and regulatory standards.
Night Shift: 7 p.m.–7 a.m.
