Overview
A registered nurse (RN) executes comprehensive nursing care activities on the Geropsychiatric Unit. The RN is responsible for assessing, monitoring, recording, and reporting symptoms or changes in patient conditions; maintaining accurate patient reports and medical histories; performing mental and physical assessments; administering medication and treatments; providing assistance with daily activities; and observing reactions.
The RN manages the therapeutic milieu, including daily groups, education, and one‑to‑one sessions with individual patients, while collaborating with the multidisciplinary treatment team. Responsibilities also include completing individualized treatment plans upon admission and throughout the patient’s stay, planning, implementing, and coordinating nursing care, conducting therapies in accordance with diagnoses and needs, and performing treatment interventions following physician orders.
The RN provides efficient discharge planning and obtains accurate histories required documentation—such as admission paperwork, assessments (mental and physical), progress notes, intervention and evaluation records, discharge paperwork, and CQI+ data—is completed in a timely and efficient manner.

- Assist patients with daily activities.
- Observe and document patient reactions.
- Manage therapeutic milieu activities—including daily groups, education, and one‑to‑one sessions.
- Collaborate with physicians, other team members, and external health and social agencies.
- Complete individualized treatment plans and update them regularly.
- Plan, implement, and coordinate nursing care activities.
- Conduct therapies aligned with patient diagnoses and needs.
- Follow physician orders for medication administration and medical treatments.
- Provide efficient discharge plans and obtain accurate admissions histories.
- Complete all required documentation in a timely, efficient manner.
- Maintain CQI+ data and assist with interventions and evaluations.
- Education: 2‑year Associate’s degree or diploma from a 3‑year nursing program (required);
Bachelor’s degree preferred. - License: Valid State of New Hampshire RN license.
- Certification: BLS certification required.
- Experience: 1 year of prior nursing experience preferred.
- Medical terminology: Required.
