Role Overview

A registered nurse (RN) executes comprehensive nursing care activities on the Geropsychiatric Unit, providing therapeutic care and ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

• Assess, monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patient conditions.
• Maintain accurate patient reports and medical histories.
• Perform mental and physical assessments for each patient.
• Administer medication and other treatments as ordered by physicians.
• Assist patients with daily activities and observe their reactions.
• Manage therapeutic milieu, including daily groups, educational sessions, and one‑on‑one interactions.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team to ensure comprehensive care.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans upon admission and as needs evolve.
• Plan, implement, and coordinate nursing care activities in alignment with patient diagnoses and goals.
• Conduct therapies according to patient diagnosis and needs.
• Perform treatment interventions following physician orders, including medication administration and other medical treatment orders.
• Collaborate with physicians, multidisciplinary team members, and external health and social agencies.
• Prepare efficient discharge plans and obtain accurate admission histories.
• Complete required documentation (admission paperwork, mental and physical assessments, progress notes) in a timely and efficient manner.
• Document interventions, evaluations, discharge paperwork, and CQI+ data.
• Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards and measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and regulatory standards.

• Education:
  
  2‑year associate degree or diploma from a 3‑year nursing program required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Valid State of New Hampshire RN license.
• BLS certification required.

• 1 year previous nursing experience preferred.
• Proficient in medical terminology.
• Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
