3 East is a 30‑bed adult med/surg department serving a patient population that consists of orthopedics, neurosurgical and general medicine and general surgical.

Average Patient:
Nurse ratio – 5:1 days, 6:1 nights

The Resource Registered Nurse serves as a clinical leader on an assigned shift, overseeing unit operations, coordinating staffing assignments, and supporting patient care delivery. This role ensures safe, effective, and patient‑centered care by balancing staff competencies, patient acuity, and unit volume. The Resource RN acts as a mentor, role model, and resource to the care team while collaborating closely with nursing leadership to maintain quality, safety, and operational excellence.

• Coordinate operational flow and patient care activities for an assigned unit and shift.
• Develop staff assignments based on competencies, patient acuity, and census.
• Lead staffing huddles and perform regular rounds to support quality care, patient safety, and patient satisfaction.
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff and new employees.
• Foster a positive work environment and assist staff in adapting to change.
• Deliver and promote patient‑centered care utilizing the Professional Practice Model.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Utilize evidence‑based practice, quality data, and performance improvement methodologies to enhance patient care.
• Support staff competency development in partnership with Clinical Teachers and nursing leadership.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, Unit Based Practice Councils, and patient experience efforts.
• Monitor compliance with organizational, professional, and regulatory standards.
• Use technology and electronic medical records to support documentation, communication, and clinical decision‑making.
• Promote a culture of safety and assist in identifying and implementing system improvements.
• Escalate clinical, operational, or risk concerns through the chain of command when appropriate.
• Perform direct patient care and other duties as assigned.

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
• Current New Hampshire Registered Nurse license.
• Minimum two (2) years of progressive clinical experience in an acute care and/or specialty setting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and team collaboration abilities.
• Ability to prioritize, manage multiple responsibilities, and make decisions in a fast‑paced environment.
