Nursing Services Provider for Nash County Health Department

The primary purpose of this position is to provide nursing services to all Nash County Health Department patients following agency policies, procedures, and standing orders. Health department programs include Maternal Health, Family Planning, Women's Health, Adult Health, Child Health, Immunization, STD/HIV, Tuberculosis, and Communicable Disease. The work schedule is 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Occasional extended hours or weekends for community health fairs, communicable disease outbreaks, flu shots, etc.

Hours may vary depending on the services of the department.

The essential duties and tasks include:

• 20% Women's Preventive Health Program
• 20% Adult Health Program
• 20% STD/HIV Program
• 20% Child Health Program
• 15% Prenatal Program
• 5% Other Duties

Considerable knowledge of and skill in the application of nursing theory, practices, principles, and techniques employed in the field of public health and related programs; general knowledge of and ability to apply the principles and practices of public health; working knowledge of current social and economic problems relating to public health; working knowledge of available resources and organizations. Ability to deal tactfully with others and to exercise good judgement in appraising situations and making decisions;

ability to secure the cooperation of clients, to elicit needed information and to maintain effective working relationships; ability to record accurately services rendered and to interpret and explain records, reports, and medical instructions.

Required minimum training:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. Degree in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation; or graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing and one year of professional nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional training/experience: HIV Counseling, CPR, Introduction to Disaster, Incident Command System, Introduction to Public Health Nursing (if no

B. S. Degree in Nursing). Equivalent training and experience:

Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Valid North Carolina Driver's License.
