Part-Time Parks Maintenance Aide III

Overview

Performs duties associated with the operation and maintenance of parks and athletic fields in Nash County. Prepares athletic fields and assists with mowing, trimming, and edging activities. Works with crew or independently on assignments in a safe and efficient manner. Performs daily field preparation for field activities. Assists in turf-related mowing, trimming, and edging activities.

• Operates equipment including chalk liners, line painters, drags, small tractors, pickup trucks, trailers, blowers, mowers, riding mowers, line trimmers, pressure washer, field sweeper and a variety of hand tools and hand power tools.
• Cleans and maintains park facilities and restrooms, empties trash containers, picks up litter.
• Performs other grounds and park facility care duties as assigned.

• Ability to work independently and responsibly, as well as part of a team.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies that arise in the park system, including law enforcement issues, medical emergencies, building/grounds issues, and issues arising while parks are closed to the public.
• Ability to document incidents and prepare written reports.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions, including following established safety rules.
• Ability to work outside in all types of weather.
• Must be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent.
• A combination of experience and training that provides the applicant with the knowledge and skills to perform the job.
