Overview
The main responsibility of the Sr. Accountant, Software and Prepaids will be the proper accounting for the Company’s global software (internally developed and externally purchased) and prepaid assets in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Job duties will include month end close processes for related accounts, including analysis and reconciliation. This position will also contribute to process improvements and other duties as assigned.
This is a hybrid role (3 days onsite) located at our downtown Nashville office location.
Responsibilities- Prepare software capitalization entries on a monthly basis based on the most recent JIRA data from IT personnel in accordance with ASC 350-40.
- Work cross-functionally with IT to ensure timely and accurate reporting of JIRA data and create summaries showing fluctuations in capitalizable hours and various projects worked on.
- Work cross-functionally with various departments to determine whether there have been any SOWs entered into that will be prepaid in nature and require accrual/capitalization.
- Collaborate with FP&A to ensure forecast/plan accurately match latest information regarding software capitalization/maintenance and other prepaid asset trends.
- Prepare and maintain prepaid amortization schedules using Blackline and make related monthly journal entries.
- Prepare schedules and conduct analysis to support month-over-month fluctuations.
- Implement new software accounting standard.
- Assist with providing support to external auditors.
- Other duties as assigned.
- CPA license required
- Big 4 Public Accounting experience highly preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred
- Experience with Black Line (Recons, Tasks, Journals, Matching) preferred
- Advanced skills in Word, PowerPoint, Excel (Pivots, V-lookups, graphs)
- Highly detail and deadline oriented
- Good communication and collaboration skills
- 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience
- Solid understanding of modern project management techniques such as Agile and Lean
