Staff Accountant, Practice Accounting
Report to the Manager of Practice Accounting and support the month‑end close and financial reporting process within a specific functional pod on the operational accounting team. This entry‑level role is an opportunity to build foundational accounting and analytical skills while contributing to the accuracy and timeliness of the organization’s financial results. This hybrid role is based in Nashville, TN and requires attendance as an essential job function.
Responsibilities- Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with US GAAP.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist with monthly close activities, including consolidations and preparation of financial statements.
- Support the Senior Accountant and Manager in variance analysis and financial reviews.
- Maintain organized supporting documentation for all accounting transactions.
- Assist in preparing schedules and analyses for internal stakeholders and external auditors.
- Participate in implementing new accounting standards, policies, and procedures.
- Identify opportunities for process efficiencies and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Build strong working relationships with peers, practice staff, and internal finance teams.
- Support ad hoc projects and analyses as needed.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned to help drive the mission of improving the lives of everyone living with cancer.
- 0-4+ years of accounting experience.
- Knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls.
- Working knowledge of Workday or other ERP platforms is a plus.
- Active CPA license or working toward CPA license preferred.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles (debits/credits, accruals, reconciliations).
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Eagerness to learn and take initiative in professional development.
- Team‑oriented mindset with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
