Overview
The Billing Specialist is responsible for creating invoices, statements and credits for customers. The role also involves working directly with customers on questions and dispute resolution.
Responsibilities- Create weekly/monthly invoices including various pass-through billing
- Research and resolve credit memo inquiries
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal and external customers to research and resolve billing and invoicing issues
- Perform tasks using manual/paper processes and electronic processes
- Multitask efficiently with various tools and programs
- Maintain focus and regain focus after interruptions
- Work independently and as part of a team with minimal guidance
- Think creatively and apply processes efficiently
- Support high-profile new customers with special handling and monthly billing requests; provide world-class customer service and follow up
- Diffuse and manage escalated inquiries with ownership
- Learn new processes such as custom invoice uploads, document handling and train team members
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good working knowledge of accounting principles
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Exceptional customer service and follow-up skills for internal and external customers
- Strong data entry skills with attention to detail
- Good computer skills (Outlook, Word and Excel - Pivots and V lookups, formulas)
- Ability to navigate multiple programs and multitask with interruptions
- Entry level for more complex support and administrative functions
- Applies generally straightforward methods or procedures
- Requires good knowledge and experience of standardized rules, procedures or operations
- Expected to work through typical or moderately complex problems with occasional guidance
- May require specialized skills in administrative or technical fields
