Payroll Director

Key Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-wide payroll operations across a complex, multi‑state healthcare organization.
• Provide strategic leadership to a payroll organization consisting of 2 Payroll Managers and approximately 40 indirect team members.
• Serve as the business leader for a major payroll ERP system, partnering with HR, Finance, and IT to support ongoing system optimization.
• Lead post-go‑live payroll system activities, including quarterly release testing, payroll validation, troubleshooting, and enhancement efforts.
• Drive payroll process improvements, operational efficiencies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across multiple payroll cycles.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, reporting, and system functionality.
• Support the transition of additional payroll functions back in‑house as the organization continues to mature its payroll systems environment.

• 10+ years of progressive payroll leadership experience within a large, complex organization.
• Hands‑on experience with a major payroll ERP system (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP) is required.
• Demonstrated experience supporting a large‑scale payroll system after implementation, including quarterly release testing, troubleshooting, payroll validation, and post‑go‑live optimization.
• Experience serving as the Payroll business lead or Payroll SME working alongside HRIS and IT teams.
• Multi‑state payroll leadership experience.
• Experience leading payroll teams within a shared services or enterprise environment.
• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, payroll accounting, and payroll operation.

• Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with modern cloud‑based payroll and HCM platforms.
• Experience supporting payroll system optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience with payroll process automation and operational transformation.
