Sr. Accountant

Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing construction company in Nashville. This is a part-time contract opportunity working approximately 28 hours per week onsite, ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a hands-on environment and partnering directly with operations leadership.

The Senior Accountant will oversee general ledger activities, month-end close, financial reporting, and construction-related accounting functions while helping ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

Responsibilities

+ Manage month-end and year-end close activities

+ Prepare and analyze financial statements and supporting schedules

+ Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies

+ Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate financial records

+ Assist with job cost accounting and project-related financial reporting

+ Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management activities as needed

+ Review revenue and expense recognition for construction projects

+ Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis

+ Coordinate with external CPA firms during audits and tax preparation

+ Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen accounting controls and efficiency

Requirements

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

+ 5+ years of progressive accounting experience

+ Construction, contracting, or project-based accounting experience preferred

+ Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close processes

+

Experience with ERP or accounting software systems (Keystone would be great)

+ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

+ Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a small-company environment

+ Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
