Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is a highly motivated individual responsible for the timely and accurate financial reporting of assigned properties. Responsibilities include performing month-end close, reconciliation of accounts on a monthly basis, posting journal entries, completing monthly bank reconciliations, reviewing final product, and other duties as assigned. The salary ranges up to $90,000, based on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Perform monthly full-cycle accounting functions for multiple Multi-Family properties, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and monitoring/reviewing receivables.
  • Review and maintain cash balances for assigned properties, submit funding requests as necessary, and approve bill payments.
  • Ensure timely payment of real estate obligations.
  • Coordinate accounting duties with operations personnel (portfolio management, asset management, community and property/general managers) and third parties (partners, vendors, banking institutions, etc.).
  • Provide assistance to Community Managers with coding invoices and reconciling tenant ledgers, when necessary.
  • Handle fixed asset accounting functions and manage depreciation schedules.
  • Support the Accounting Manager by serving as a first-level reviewer for monthly financial packets and other reports as requested.
  • Assist with year-end audits and tax filings.
  • Participate in special projects and prepare ad-hoc reports as needed.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent time management, initiative, good judgment, urgency, and attention to detail to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight time constraints and adapt to interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients, vendors, and co-workers via email, phone, and in person.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Ability to keep sensitive information highly confidential.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize work, and seek clarification when necessary.

Required

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with strong knowledge of GAAP, accrual basis accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of accounting experience; experience in construction or real estate is helpful.
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • CPA license is a strong plus.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
