Staff Accountant

Genesis Diamonds is looking for a Staff Accountant to own the day-to-day accounts payable process while building a broader accounting skill set. The current workload is AP transactionally focused - invoice entry, vendor statement reconciliation, and vendor communication - and will include general accounting tasks as they develop. It's a great fit for someone with AP experience and an accounting education who wants room to grow into higher-level work over time.

We're in the middle of modernizing our systems, and this role will evolve as that work progresses. This person will start out learning our current processes as they exist today, and will have real opportunity to help shape and grow into new systems and workflows over time.

• Compensation: $60,000 -$70,000 DOE

  Full-time, on-site in Nashville, TN
• Reports directly to the CFO

• Enter vendor invoices and code them to the correct GL accounts across our store locations
• Prepare scheduled payment runs (primarily ACH) for review and approval, then process approved payments
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies directly with vendors by phone and email
• Serve as the main point of contact between our stores and the accounting office for invoices, checks, and cash handling
• Prepare and make bank deposits as needed (local driving required)
• Maintain vendor files, W-9 collection, and 1099 tracking
• Support month-end close tasks, including basic journal entries and account reconciliations
• Assist with system transition projects as they roll out, including data mapping and testing
• Take on additional close-related responsibilities (accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, etc.) as skills develop
• Identify and flag process inefficiencies as we move from legacy manual workflows toward more automated systems

• 2+ years of accounts payable experience
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Solid understanding of how debits and credits flow through the accounting cycle
• Comfort booking basic journal entries and reading a trial balance
• High attention to detail - comfortable with repetitive, high-volume data entry done accurately
• A genuine willingness to learn how things work today before pushing for how they should work tomorrow
• Strong Excel skills; comfort picking up new systems
• Experience with Sage, Quick Books, or retail POS systems is a plus, but not required
• Adaptability - able to work within legacy processes today while helping build what replaces them
• Strong written and verbal communication - you'll be the daily point of contact for vendors and store staff
• Organization and follow-through on recurring, deadline-driven tasks
• Problem-solving with vendor discrepancies and statement issues
