The Regional Controller is responsible for leading the financial management and accounting operations. This role provides strategic financial leadership while ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, effective internal controls, and operational support for regional business leaders. The Regional Controller partners closely with operations, corporate finance, and executive leadership to drive financial performance, improve processes, and support business growth.

A successful candidate is a strategic business partner who combines technical accounting expertise with strong leadership and business acumen. This individual is highly organized, data-driven, collaborative, and committed to supporting operational excellence while maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all regional accounting and financial reporting activities including identifying opportunities to expedite the month-end close process.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Lead and develop a process to monitor financial performance and provide analysis of key business drivers, trends, and variances.
  • Provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
Accounting & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Oversee account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and implement audit recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with tax reporting and statutory requirements in coordination with corporate finance.
Leadership & Operations
  • Lead, mentor, and develop regional accounting and finance staff.
  • Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with regional operational leaders to support business objectives and strategic initiatives.
  • Evaluate and improve financial processes and reporting systems.
  • Support acquisitions, integrations, and other special projects as needed.
Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
Experience
  • 8–12 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years in a leadership or controller role.
  • Experience overseeing multi-location or regional financial operations.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience with Sage accounting software and Service Titan is preferred.
  • Experience in the commercial HVAC and plumbing industry is preferred.
  • Periodic regional Travel - 10%-25%
  • Strong financial analysis and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent leadership and team development abilities.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • High level of integrity and ethical judgment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
