Accounting Manager

Description

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to support a high-volume Shared Services accounting environment in Nashville. This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable working in the details, managing a significant volume of transactions, and keeping multiple entities and accounts moving through the monthly close.

This position will have a heavy focus on general ledger accounting, intercompany activity, accruals, account reconciliations, and month-end close. The ideal candidate comes from a larger, complex organization and understands how to operate in a fast-paced, highly transactional accounting environment.

Key Responsibilities

+ Manage and support day-to-day general ledger accounting activities across multiple accounts and/or entities

+ Prepare, review, and post journal entries and accruals

+ Manage a high volume of intercompany transactions, including reconciliations, balancing, research, and resolution of discrepancies

+ Prepare and review balance sheet and account reconciliations

+ Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process

+ Research account variances, reconciling items, and transactional discrepancies

+ Ensure intercompany balances are properly recorded and eliminated

+ Review accounting activity for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate support

+ Partner with other Shared Services and Finance teams to resolve issues and keep transactions moving

+ Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reconciliation procedures

+ Provide oversight and guidance to accounting staff as needed

Requirements

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

+ 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including experience at the Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant level

+ Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting

+ Significant experience with intercompany accounting and reconciliations

+ Hands-on experience with accruals, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close

+ Experience working in a high-volume, transactional accounting environment

+ Shared Services or multi-entity accounting experience strongly preferred

+ Strong Excel skills and experience working within a large ERP environment

+ Ability to manage competing priorities and tight close deadlines

+ Comfortable being hands-on in the accounting work rather than solely managing from a high level
