Accounting Manager

Description

We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join a consulting engagement supporting a high-priority accounting initiative in Nashville, Tennessee. This role will focus on resolving complex intercompany accounting issues, improving reconciliation accuracy, and helping accelerate the financial close process. The ideal candidate brings strong investigative skills, hands-on leadership, and the ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment while delivering practical solutions.

Responsibilities:

- Lead detailed reviews of intercompany balances, transactions, and reconciliation variances to identify root causes and drive timely resolution.

- Oversee correction of inaccurate journal activity and ensure supporting entries are properly researched, documented, and recorded.

- Analyze large volumes of financial data to uncover trends, exceptions, and process breakdowns affecting quarter-end and month-end close activities.

- Partner with accounting stakeholders to reduce reconciliation backlogs and strengthen the accuracy and efficiency of general ledger processes.

- Provide hands-on support for complex close-related accounting work, including intercompany eliminations, account analysis, and transactional review.

- Recommend and implement practical process improvements that reduce manual effort and improve consistency across accounting operations.

- Create clear documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials to support knowledge transfer and process standardization.

- Support accounting process mapping and documentation efforts related to SAP HANA, Black Line, and other relevant financial workflows as needed.

Requirements

- Strong experience managing or leading intercompany accounting investigations, reconciliations, and issue resolution activities.

- Demonstrated knowledge of month-end close, general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliation practices.

- Ability to perform detailed financial analysis across large datasets and translate findings into actionable recommendations.

- Experience working with SAP, Black Line, or similar enterprise accounting and reconciliation platforms is preferred.

- Background in process improvement, process mapping, and development of department procedures or SOPs.

- Familiarity with financial statement audit support and maintaining accurate documentation for accounting activities.

- Proven ability to work independently with limited oversight in a deadline-driven contract environment.
