Position Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close, and ensuring financial reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner. This role works closely with finance and operational teams to support business objectives and maintain compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities General Accounting
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Perform bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Analyze account activity and investigate discrepancies.
Financial Reporting
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Create ad hoc financial reports and analyses for management.
  • Support external audits and prepare audit schedules.
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
  • Assist with invoice processing and payment activities.
  • Monitor accounts receivable balances and follow up on outstanding payments.
  • Reconcile AP and AR subledgers to the general ledger.
Compliance & Controls
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Maintain organized financial records and documentation.
  • Support tax filings, regulatory reporting, and internal control initiatives.
Special Projects
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with system implementations and other finance-related projects as needed.
Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
Experience
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Public accounting internship or experience is a plus.
Technical Skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
  • Experience with ERP or accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Net Suite, SAP, Oracle, or Sage preferred.
  • Knowledge of GAAP.
