A privately held Nashville-area organization is seeking a Director of Accounting to oversee its accounting function and play a key role in strengthening processes, reporting, and financial operations.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, smaller-company environment and is comfortable taking ownership of the accounting function.

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries, AP/AR, and month-end processes
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
• Maintain and oversee the company's accounting systems and processes
• Review and improve accounting procedures and internal controls
• Monitor collections, payments, and cash activity
• Work closely with leadership and external accounting partners
• Support annual reporting and other financial compliance requirements
• Assist with the implementation and optimization of new accounting technology and automation
• Provide guidance and oversight to other members of the accounting team
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and organization within the accounting function

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience in an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Controller, or similar role preferred
• Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting
• Strong Quick Books experience required
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of responsibilities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience working in a small to midsize organization is a plus
• Public accounting experience is also welcome
