Position Overview and ResponsibilitiesAt Sentral, we are building a team of people-first focused individuals who thrive on going above and beyond. The Senior Accountant role owns the accounting for two complex, multi-use communities, partnering closely with both the on-site property teams and the corporate accounting team across all accounting functions — from general ledger close through ownership-level reporting. This role also serves as a key point of contact for direct ownership communication, CAM reconciliations, and audit facilitation across the portfolio.
Yardi experience is essential, as this person will be expected to work confidently in the system from day one. This role reports to the Community Accounting Manager overseeing this portfolio.
The ideal candidate brings a strong accounting, ownership-communication, and reporting skill set, along with a strong desire to be part of a unique, rapidly growing company. Success in this role calls for a growth mindset, an entrepreneurial drive, and a high tolerance for uncertainty. Candidates should be highly organized, comfortable taking a roll-up-the-sleeves approach, and able to demonstrate a track record of strong performance managing complex, multi-component properties.
- Own the monthly financial close and reporting for two complex, multi-use communities, including account analysis, journal entries, and related research.
- Prepare and maintain segregated financial reporting and tracking by community component (e.g., residential, retail, commercial, parking, and amenity spaces), ensuring income and expenses are properly allocated across each.
- Manage and reconcile multiple bank accounts across both communities, researching and resolving variances in a timely manner.
- Serve as a primary accounting point of contact for ownership, preparing and presenting monthly and quarterly financial results and responding directly to ownership inquiries.
- Prepare and manage annual CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations, including tenant billing calculations, supporting schedules, and resolution of tenant disputes or variances.
- Facilitate and organize interim and annual audits, preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation and serving as a key liaison with external auditors, attorneys, and lenders.
