The Labor Planner supports fulfillment center (FC) leadership by developing weekly labor plans and guiding hiring and staffing decisions for large associate populations.
This role helps implement Amazon’s centralized labor planning model and works cross-functionally with teams such as S&OP, Finance, HR, Quality, and Process Engineering to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
The Labor Planner is expected to be highly data-driven, skilled in advanced Excel, and progressively build SQL capability for independent analysis.
Labor Planning & OperationsDevelop weekly labor plans with FC and regional leadership.
Support hiring decisions and staffing strategies for sites.
Use Automated Labor Planning System (ALPS) and related tools for workforce planning.
Deliver action plans and insights to senior managers and directors.
Combine data from multiple sources to inform operational decisions.
Conduct deep-dive analyses to identify cost reduction opportunities.
Use metrics and data to navigate ambiguity and deliver results.
Troubleshoot system and planning issues quickly and effectively.
Partner with S&OP, Finance, HR, Quality, and Process Engineering teams.
Build relationships with business partners to influence decisions.
Understand operational challenges across sites and recommend solutions.
Identify bottlenecks and barriers in weekly planning cadence.
Proactively propose new working methods and process improvements.
Drive initiatives that improve centralization and operational efficiency.
Independently identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
1+ year experience in tax, finance, or analytical role.
2+ years experience with advanced Excel and VBA/macros.
Experience using data and metrics to generate business insights.
Experience with SQL or ETL.
Experience working with very large datasets.
Experience with Tableau.
This is a early-to-mid level analytics / operations role focused on workforce planning, operational analytics, and process improvement — a strong pathway into roles such as Operations Analyst, Business Analyst, or Supply Chain Analytics.
