Positions in this sub-family are responsible for identifying internal and external strategic issues and opportunities that could affect growth and profitability of the organization. Activities include:
- Identifying growth opportunities, business model innovation, and facilitating cross-business unit initiatives
- Evaluating and financial modeling of potential merger, acquisition, divestment, partnership and joint venture opportunities
- Monitoring medium to long-term business trends/outlooks, gathering competitive intelligence to contribute to strategic business planning discussions with leadership
- Identifying and developing optimal revenue models, sales/distribution channels, pricing, and new product development strategies
- Identifying and negotiating strategic partnerships including financial arrangements, customer sharing, and intellectual property rights
- Prioritizing and tracking investments across new product development initiatives.
Long-Term Business Strategy & Planning work is focused on facilitating and developing the organization’s medium and long-term goals including:
- Identifying growth opportunities, business model innovation, and facilitating cross-business unit initiatives
- Evaluating and financial modeling of potential merger, acquisition, divestment, partnership and joint venture opportunities
- Monitoring medium to long-term business trends/outlooks, gathering competitive intelligence to contribute to strategic business planning discussions with leadership
- Analyzing and managing medium and long-term capital expenditure and project approval decisions
In some organizations may review corporate governance, balanced score card performance, and participate in the annual business planning cycle A Manager (M3) manages experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments. Responsibilities typically include: - Policy and strategy implementation for short-term results (1 year or less).
- Problems faced are difficult to moderately complex.
- Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree ; 10+ years of relevant experience including 7+ years management or leadership experience
- Or Master’s degree; 8+ years of relevant experience including 5-7 years management or leadership experience
