Are you a Lab Technician specializing in the testing of construction materials seeking a challenging opportunity to elevate your career with a firm committed to our employees and providing high-quality service to our clients? S&ME is looking for an eager and dedicated full-time Construction Materials Laboratory Technician to join our Construction Services team based in our Nashville, Tennessee office. The job is located out of the Paducah/Grand Rivers, KY area.

What You Will Do:

• Testing and Reporting:
  Perform and report findings of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt testing in the laboratory under minimal observation of more experienced technicians and/or professionals. Your contributions will directly impact the success of our projects and the satisfaction of our clients.
• Equipment:
  Maintain testing equipment in good working order and perform maintenance and calibration. Your attention to detail and commitment to excellence will ensure that our equipment is always ready for accurate testing.
• Coordination of Others:
  May assign testing to other staff on small to medium projects and perform a preliminary review of their testing results. Your leadership and coordination skills will help foster a collaborative and efficient work environment.

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for a detail‑driven, curious professional to deepen their understanding of construction materials and take on increasing responsibility within a supportive, hands‑on environment. Someone eager to grow their technical expertise while contributing to the accuracy and reliability of the data that drives our projects.

• Education:
  
  High School diploma/GED
• Related vocational training, a plus
• Experience:
  
  Minimum of 3 years of experience in a construction materials laboratory
• Certifications:
  • ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician Level II required
• Key
  
  Competencies:
  • Effective math skills with a strong understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
  • Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language

This role involves hands-on work in outdoor environments, and with Company-provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), you'll need to be comfortable with:

• Working in the field office a majority of the time, but might be requested to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Walking on a concrete/tile floor and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day
• Lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. of field/laboratory samples and equipment
• Safely handling field tools and maneuvering equipment on active construction sites
