About

The Role

The Site Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing and enforcing job site safety while acting as a resource for internal and external customers to provide a safe working environment and protect the company from liability.

What You’ll Do
  • Coordinate, conduct, and track employee training requirements and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, job site safety plans, and company policies.
  • Partner with the Safety Manager and Director to communicate findings, needs, trends, and opportunities on the job site and conduct training when needed.
  • Investigate job‑related incidents and drug testing requirements to maintain compliance with the BWC and job site‑specific programs to ensure the employees receive proper treatment.
  • Collaborate with superintendents, foremen, and general contractors to share best safety practices, provide guidance, inspect or recommend equipment, provide alerts, and foster safe working practices to minimize risk.
  • Act as the company safety contact to the general contractor and serve as the first point of contact for addressing safety‑related project questions, responding proactively.
  • Perform safety audits and inspections and partner with the safety manager and safety director to identify trends and problem‑solve issues.
  • Emphasize and reflect a “safety first” attitude in all dealings. Complete or review injury reports, assist with investigations into accidents, seek understanding of root causes for incidents, evaluate hazards, communicate findings, and follow up with injured workers.
Who You Are
  • Experience:

    Some classroom or field experience in a similar role preferred, but not required; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Reasoning and Development:
    Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form; handle problems involving several concrete variables and demonstrate excellent process management skills.
  • Mathematical Development:
    Ability to add, subtract, and divide all units of measure; compute percentages and basic statistics; read and use graphs, charts, and general algebra.
  • Language Development:
    Ability to read technical manuals and reports, workplace rules and procedures; speak with poise and confidence, using correct English; communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Spanish language communication (spoken and written) is preferred, but not required.
  • Licenses &

    Certifications:

    Valid driver’s license, OSHA 30, OSHA 510, OSHA 500, or BCSP certification preferred.
  • Education:

    High school diploma or GED.
  • Typical schedule:

    Monday‑Friday 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, but may vary by job site.
  • Position may be union or non‑union.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical requirements are those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • The physical demands of this position require the ability to communicate orally and in writing, hear at a conversational level, use both hands, distinguish depth, and operate a motor vehicle.
  • During the course of the job, the employee will frequently (34‑66 % of time) sit and use fingers. Occasionally (6‑33 % of time) stand, walk, grip with pressure, and twist or bend wrists. Infrequently (2‑5 % of time) climb up to 5 flights of stairs, carry up to 10 lb. up to 10 ft., and keep wrists and feet in prolonged positions of flexion or extension.
