This is a large long-term heavy civil project expected to last 3+ years, offering stable work opportunities for dependable candidates seeking long-duration project employment.
The Concrete Form Laborer assists concrete form carpenters and heavy civil crews with the construction, installation, and removal of concrete form systems on highway and infrastructure projects. This position supports structural concrete operations for bridges, retaining walls, culverts, drainage structures, and roadway infrastructure.
Candidates should be comfortable performing physically demanding work in outdoor construction environments and working around heavy equipment, active roadway operations, excavation activities, and structural concrete pours.
Key Responsibilities- Assist carpenters with building, setting, bracing, and stripping concrete forms
- Carry and organize form materials, lumber, hardware, and tools
- Clean and prepare work areas before and after concrete pours
- Assist with forms for:
- Bridge footings
- Retaining walls
- Culverts
- Barrier walls
- Drainage structures
- Curbs and flatwork
- Sign and light pole foundations
- Help install embeds, chamfers, blockouts, and anchor bolt templates
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely
- Assist with concrete placement and cleanup activities
- Remove debris, scrap lumber, and excess concrete materials
- Load and unload construction materials
- Support crews during layout, forming, and stripping operations
- Follow instructions from foremen and carpenters
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Construction labor experience preferred
- Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors
- Ability to use basic hand and power tools
- Reliable transportation to the project site
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow directions and work safely in team environments
- Heavy civil or highway construction experience
- Experience assisting concrete form crews
- Familiarity with DOT roadway projects
- Experience working around:
- Excavations
- Cranes
- Concrete pours
- Heavy equipment
- Traffic control zones
- Lift and carry up to 75 lbs regularly
- Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting
- Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, and dusty conditions
- Ability to work long hours on active construction sites
- Must follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety procedures
- PPE required at all times
- Must remain alert around heavy equipment and active roadway operations
OSHA 10 preferred but not required.
Compensation- Pay Range: $20 – $28/hour depending on experience and location
- Overtime available
- Per diem available for qualified travelers
- Benefits package available (if applicable)
- Typical schedule:
50–60 hours per week - Day shift with occasional night or weekend work
- Overtime common based on project schedule and concrete pours
Qualified candidates should be able to:
- Maintain pace with active form carpentry crews
- Safely move and stage materials efficiently
- Work effectively in fast-paced heavy civil environments
- Perform labor-intensive work with minimal supervision
- Support crews in maintaining production schedules and quality standards
This position is performed on active highway and heavy civil construction projects and may involve working near traffic, bridge structures, excavations, elevated work areas, and large concrete placements. Candidates must be comfortable working in physically demanding outdoor conditions and maintaining strict safety awareness at all times.
