Join our team as a Utilities Construction Inspector! In this pivotal role, you will ensure that all utility installations on interstate widening projects meet regulatory standards and project specifications. We are seeking a detail-oriented individual who is passionate about maintaining high-quality construction practices.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret roadway and structure plans, contract specifications, and schedules.
- Monitor on-site construction activities and perform inspections to ensure compliance with project plans.
- Prepare daily field reports documenting the construction progress and quality assurance.
- Meet scheduling and attendance requirements with attention to detail.
- Understand and interpret schematic drawings for accurate inspections.
- Inspect the installation of all utilities as part of the project.
- Work collaboratively with contractors to ensure successful project execution.
Education/
Experience:
- High School Diploma or a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in utilities inspection for interstate improvement projects.
- Familiarity with GDOT manuals, specifications, and protocols.
- Knowledgeable in traffic control plans, including traffic shifts, detours, and lane closures.
- Understanding of the properties and characteristics of materials used in construction.
- Valid driver's license and insurable driving record are mandatory.
- Experience with GDOT Utility Coordination procedures during construction is highly valued.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to navigate construction sites and perform field assignments effectively.
- Must be able to carry necessary instruments and equipment.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Ability to work in variable climate conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
