General Manager - Highway Construction

General Manager

We are looking for a General Manager to join an industry-leading organization to drive Highway Construction-related projects throughout a key region. The role will focus on developing company-wide strategies related to recruiting, training, and retaining a strong team in effort to provide top-notch quality to customers while maintaining overall project efficiency. This organization is very stable and takes care of its people.

Working directly with the VP to manage the day-to-day business activity for grading, utilities, site prep, concrete, and asphalt paving with a team of 450+ employees across Western Kentucky.

Oversee the successful building of heavy highway, commercial, city, county, residential, and DOD work.

Manage approximately 5-6 direct reports responsible for civil site construction, utilities, project management, logistics, and other duties related to road construction.

Ensure projects are being managed to meet strict production deadlines and financial metrics.

Be involved in reviewing estimates on projects ranging from $150K-$75M.

Take part in monthly DOT lettings with estimating and production teams.

Maintain good working relationships with KYDOT, City, County, and customers.

Maintain good working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management

10 - 15 years of industry experience (Heavy Highway, Civil construction industry)

Knowledge of the local customers, materials, and specifications is strongly preferred.

Demonstrate strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to read plans and specifications (application rates, grades, slope, drainage, etc.).

Ability to manage all aspects of the operation including ordering of materials, logistics, maintenance and outside services.

Strategic thinker with growth in mind

Familiarity with HSSS suite (Heavy Bid, Heavy Job), as well as excellent skills in MS suites and excel
