Construction Project Manager

Sr. Project Manager (Contract) to support its Planning, Design & Construction (PDC) department during a period of sustained project volume and complexity. The team oversees approximately 100 active construction and renovation projects at any given time, spanning new medical facilities, major renovations, and technically complex work within active hospital environments.

PM will work closely with general contractors, architects, engineers, and internal hospital stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in compliance with healthcare regulations and Vanderbilt standards.

The engagement is expected to last approximately 12 months, with the potential to extend up to 18 months, and is designed to immediately add Sr –level expertise to an already lean, highly experienced team.

• Healthcare Construction Oversight:
  Manage complex healthcare construction in active hospital environments, ensuring compliance with infection control, life safety, and operational constraints.
• Project Governance & Coordination:
  Oversee GCs, architects, and engineers with accountability for scope, schedule, quality, and risk—without direct construction execution.
• PM Team Support:
  Independently lead smaller projects or support existing PMs with execution, documentation, and issue resolution.
• Stakeholder Management:
  Act as the primary liaison between construction teams and internal hospital stakeholders to align clinical, operational, and project needs.
• Risk Identification:
  Proactively identify and elevate schedule, scope, or compliance risks to prevent downstream impacts.

• Manage multiple construction projects across varying scopes
• Coordinate with GCs, architects, and engineering teams
• Track schedules and deliverables using Kahua or similar tools
• Review drawings and documentation to identify risks or gaps
• Ensure compliance with healthcare and Vanderbilt standards
• Provide clear status updates and maintain strong documentation

• Portfolio: ~100 active projects supported by a ~30‑person PDC team

  Adds senior oversight to reduce risk, protect patient safety, and keep high‑visibility projects on track in a highly regulated environment

Project management, PMP, Stakeholder management, Infrastructure, Project plan, Program management, Implementation, Project coordination, Resource planning, Construction.

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
• Equivalent field experience accepted
• PMP, CCM, LEED, or similar certifications are a plus, not required

  Experience:
  
  Experience working in active healthcare environments & familiarity with infection control (ICRA), shutdown coordination (clinical spaces, utilities), life safety / ILSM requirements.
• Experience in hospitals, academic medical centers, or large institutional campuses strongly preferred.
• University or lab construction acceptable if healthcare experience is limited.

Experience with construction PM platforms (Kahua, Procore, e‑Builder, or similar). Ability to quickly adapt to internal systems and reporting standards.

Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings. Comfortable managing design‑to‑construction transitions. Architecture background is a plus but not required.

Strong owner‑rep mindset (oversight and accountability, not execution). Professional communicator with contractors, designers, and hospital leadership. Independent, sound judgment, and strong documentation habits.

Comfortable working onsite five days per week. Able to ramp quickly into a complex project portfolio.

This is a Contract position based out of Nashville, TN.

Pay range: $75.00 - $85.00/hr.
