Job Description – Commercial Roofing LaborerReports to:
Construction Foreman
Direct Reports: N/A
Position OverviewThe Commercial Roofing Laborer is responsible for performing various physical tasks in the Construction Department in a safe and effective manner. These tasks may include, but are not limited to, the removal of roofing systems with insulation, flashings, and other work associated with roofs. The Laborer typically works on a crew of 4 to 8 workers as the project requires.
The Construction Department performs new construction and reroofing projects, and sheet metal installation fulfilling our contract requirements for our clients. The work is performed by crews of various sizes and composition based on the needs of the project, as determined by the Superintendents and the Construction Manager. Generally, roofing crews are 5-8 workers led by a Crew Foreman. Sheet metal crews are typically 2-3 workers including a Lead Sheet Metal Installer.
The Superintendents supervise and coach the Roofing Foremen and Lead Metal Installers.
- Regular and punctual attendance
- Safety standards compliance
- Performs physical work on a daily basis as a member of the roofing crew
- Maintains good housekeeping practices. Keeps rooftop debris and materials organized and secure
- Works safely on a daily basis
- Properly uses Personal Protective Equipment (i.e. hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, body harness, etc.)
- Proficient with use of tools of the trade
- Familiar with materials used in the trade and able to identify and select appropriate material for the job at hand
- Consistently demonstrates a willingness to meet the requirements of this position
- Communicates with fellow team members and the Foreman to advance progress of the job
