Superintendent I and II - Healthcare Construction

Summary

Mortenson is currently seeking a Superintendent responsible for coordination, planning, and supervision of assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities in a specific disciplinary area. The role includes developing and enhancing customer relationships through excellent service.

• Plan and implement to ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support project schedule
• Review construction documents for completeness and constructibility; understand contract documents, coordinate plans with design engineers
• Develop and manage project schedule and site logistics plan; utilize tools and equipment; collaborate with project partner superintendents
• Coach, supervise, and develop team members; conduct orientations, planning sessions, site meetings; supervise project partners; interview, hire, transfer, and dismiss team members
• Ensure proper task coding; lead and track work progress; handle team member training; conduct career development discussions
• Build effective relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• Lead by example; offer coaching and feedback; manage performance
• Provide high‑level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance; recognize and mitigate unfavorable conditions; seek process improvements

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management, or 10 years trade experience
• Current driver’s license
• Ability to fulfill development to closeout responsibilities for multiple, complex projects; healthcare project experience preferred
• Detail‑oriented, able to organize and manage multiple project tasks
• Basic understanding of construction law and business practices
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
• Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills
• Ability to interpret and communicate company policies
• Effective communication and active listening skills; openness to diverse input and feedback

• Minimum 5 years construction management or related experience
• Base pay range: $111,400 – $167,100

• Minimum 8 years construction management or related experience
• Base pay range: $130,100 – $195,200

Actual salary ranges are higher for the following locations:
Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%;
Seattle, WA and Portland, OR – 10%;
Washington, D.C. – 12.5%. Base pay is positioned within these ranges based on individual knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
