The Superintendent Intern supports field operations on mid-size and moderately complex construction projects for Semper Tek, Inc. Under the guidance of experienced Superintendents and the Operations Team, the intern will assist in overseeing daily construction activities to help ensure projects are executed in accordance with contract documents, schedule, budget, and quality standards. This role provides hands-on exposure to jobsite management, safety, coordination, and quality control, with regular presence on active construction sites and potential travel as required.
Objective/
Purpose:
The Superintendent Intern will support the field team in coordinating construction activities and maintaining project performance. This internship is designed to provide exposure to managing jobsite operations, including safety, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and quality control. Interns will assist with planning work activities, documenting jobsite progress, and supporting communication between stakeholders, building a strong foundation in field leadership.
Roles/Responsibilities:
- Assist in coordinating daily construction activities on assigned projects
- Support adherence to project documents, including schedule, budget, and quality expectations
- Assist in monitoring and reinforcing jobsite safety in alignment with OSHA and EM385 standards
- Support coordination of multiple scopes or work areas on active job sites
- Assist in maintaining professional relationships with clients and trade partners
- Support planning and sequencing of work activities to maintain project flow
- Assist in monitoring project schedules and identifying potential impacts to progress
- Support coordination and scheduling of inspections with government officials
- Assist in coordinating subcontractors and field operations
- Observe and support jobsite layout planning and organization
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized jobsite
- Participate in weekly subcontractor meetings and coordination efforts
- Assist in maintaining daily logs to document jobsite activities and progress
- Support implementation of quality control programs and safety procedures
- Assist in verifying materials delivered onsite match approved submittals
- Support communication and coordination with trade partners
- Assist with reviewing project progress alongside the Project Manager to understand cost and performance impacts
- Observe and support resolution of field issues related to subcontractors or project documents
- Support enforcement of company policies, including safety and conduct standards
- Assist in understanding and supporting ICRA (Infection Control Risk Assessment) standards where applicable
Skills Required:
- Strong willingness to learn field operations and construction management practices
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to stay organized and manage multiple priorities
- Proactive mindset and willingness to solve problems
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office or willingness to learn
Skills Preferred (Not Required):
- OSHA 30 Certification (preferred, not required; may be obtained during internship)
- First Aid/CPR Certification (preferred, not required)
- Prior construction or field experience (highly desired, but not required)
- Basic understanding of construction documents and safety standards (including EM385)
