Title:
Fashion Design & Art Studio Team Member - Internship Description/Learning Objectives: Fashion Design/Art Studio Team Members will create a comprehensive visual art portfolio that includes apparel and accessories. This project will explore the interconnectedness of fashion design and visual arts. Participants will delve into the works of leading artists and fashion designers, creating works and designs inspired by these professionals. Objectives are to develop skills in research practices, graphic arts, clothing design, event organizing, and thrifting.
The project culminates in an end-of-summer art and fashion showcase, featuring a dynamic array of clothing, accessories, visual art pieces, and clothing design. - Job Duties:
- Youth will work with Near Peer coach and ASU staff on project development and execution.
- Activities/responsibilities will include researching artists/designers and their works, learning basic art and design skills, working with our Sound Studio and Healthy Choices project leads on developing covers for their projects.
- Youth will work on computers and in the onsite art lab, to aid in producing clothing designs and artwork.

- Physical Requirements: The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. - Working Conditions: Mostly classroom with some outdoor activities.
The full program is June 1st–July 17th.
June 1st – 3rd:
Interns attend assigned worksite for scheduled times.
June 4th: POWER Youth Summit at Sheraton Music City Nashville Airport.
June 5th – July 17th:
Team Members on site at their agencies Monday-Friday at the scheduled time set by employer.
You will be scheduled to work 4 hours daily, which equals 20 hours per week.
July 13th – July 17th: POWER Youth Summer Employment Program - End of Summer Celebration – Team Members can showcase their projects from the summer.
If you are selected as an Experience Work Team Member, you will make $12.00 an hour and receive a summer program with project-based employment for youth ages 14-15.
Experience Work projects can be focused on the arts, leadership skills or community development. In addition, you will learn “work ready” skills for future employment. There are opportunities to intern in many areas of Nashville, so please select the opportunity based on your access to transportation.
