About Us

Seymour Heights Christian Church (SHCC) in Seymour, TN is seeking a Worship Pastor to join our ministry team. SHCC is a non-denominational, elder-led church, with roots in the Restoration Movement Christian Churches and Churches of Christ. SHCC was established in October 1974. The SHCC staff is made up of six full-time pastoral staff and six part-time support staff. The staff work week runs Sunday through Thursday, with Fridays and Saturdays off.

SHCC is situated in the center of the rapidly growing community of Seymour, Tennessee. Seymour is nestled between the city of Knoxville and the beautiful Great Smoky Mountain National Park. SHCC averages 680 attendees among its three weekly services (2 on Sunday and 1 on Thursday).

The Worship Pastor position can be either a full-time or part-time position. Our greatest desire is to find the right person who fits well with our team and has the right skillset to lead our church family in meaningful worship. Salary will be based on the number of hours worked (full or part-time) and level of experience.

• Lead worship services on Sunday at 9:00 am and 10:30 am services.
• Participate in the Thursday evening services at 6:30 pm.
• Coordinate and schedule worship team volunteer vocalists and musicians using Planning Center Services.
• Work with the Lead Pastor to coordinate song selections with the sermon theme.
• Provide song selections to the Tech Director for Pro Presenter slides creation.
• Prepare music selections for the worship team on tablets.
• Conduct a weekly rehearsal with the worship team and technology team volunteers.
• Prepare and oversee a budget for the worship ministry.

• Formal training in worship ministry.
• A solid, Bible-based theology.
• The ability to bring a passion for worship to the stage and our church family.
• Strong vocal leadership and proficiency on guitar and/or piano/keyboard.
• A level of comfort in speaking and leading church members during the worship service.
• The ability to play keyboard and/or acoustics.
• Familiarity with or the ability to learn the following software:
  • Planning Center Services
  • Chart Builder
  • Multi Tracks
  • Playback
  • Pro Presenter
• Be a team player with the church staff, upholding our “Pastoral Staff Values”.
• Possess a servant’s heart and a willingness to serve in various roles to further the ministry of SHCC.

• Meet weekly with pastoral staff members for the coordination of planning and events (Monday staff meeting).
• Ensure excellence in all worship operations, including
  • Scheduling,
  • Licensing, and
  • Technical preparation.
• Recruit, evaluate, and train volunteers – building both musical skill and spiritual maturity within the worship team.
• Build relationships with church members and welcome church guests.
• Oversee the purchase and upkeep of instruments, sound equipment, and other items used for worship.
• Assist other staff and ministry team members.
• Participate in church wide events.

• SHCC believes that ministry does not end at our doorstep.
• Church staff members are provided time each year to serve on mission trips, at church camp, and outside ministry engagements.
• SHCC also recognizes the importance of spiritual and personal well-being of staff members.
• Staff members are provided with funds to attend conferences and participate in educational activities related to their ministry.
• Each staff member receives a monthly Personal Retreat Day, to step out of the office and reconnect with God.
• Staff members also receive vacation days, personal days, and holidays off to have time for rest and to spend time with family.
