QualificationsEducation and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree, and completion of requirements for teaching certification.

Qualifications:
Possession of a valid Interim or professional Tennessee Teacher's License is required.
Adult Basic Education (ABE) Instructors will deliver individualized instruction in Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies to incarcerated individuals pursuing high school equivalency, employment, or postsecondary opportunities. This position collaborates with a dedicated team to provide academic and workforce-readiness programming. This role requires strong communication, instructional, and advisory skills to support adult learners in achieving their goals.
ResponsibilitiesDevelops and implements engaging lesson plans using differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs in both group and individual settings that aligns with standards.
Prepares, administers, and analyzes formative and summative assessments to determine instructional levels, appropriate class placement, and diploma attainment in compliance with state and institutional policies and guidelines.
Accurately maintains student academic records, progress reports, and required TDOC documentation, including Offender Management System data entry, while ensuring confidentiality and adherence to correctional policies.
Provides individualized academic and motivational support to help students overcome barriers, achieve educational goals, and prepare for employment or post-secondary transitions.
Coordinates with education team, special education personnel, and facility staff to support a safe, structured, and productive learning environment.
Performs instructional and supervisory duties in accordance with TDOC policies, maintaining awareness of security protocols and ensuring the safety of staff and students.
Participates in ongoing training and professional learning to remain current with best practices in adult education and maintain compliance with TDOE licensing standards.
