Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:
This is a temporary position, filled mid-May through July 31. This position helps manage daily administrative oversight for the Summer Studios pre‑college program (ages 15‑18) at Belmont that runs during the month of June. The Summer Studios Manager reports to the Director of Community Engagement and Program Coordinator for the Watkins College of Art and supervises camp counselors, serving as the head of overnight camp experience for the program.
This role oversees parent communication, participant check‑in and check‑out, all dorm activities, and helps facilitate our program field trip.
- Arrive promptly and ready to work with a positive attitude; ability to stay in dorms on campus to supervise overnight campers and staff for duration of Summer Studios program
- Follow Watkins Community Education’s policy and protocol
- Assist with pre- and post‑camp studio preparation and organization (this includes pre‑camp communication with parents, preparing shopping lists for needed supplies, creating packets or carts with the instructors’ supplies, creating student check‑in packets, etc.)
- Maintain a welcoming, supportive environment for parents, children, teens, and staff
- Maintain clear, consistent, and respectful communication with parents, campers/teen workshop attendants, Watkins staff members, and camp instructors
- Develop and employ skills of classroom management by directly supervising participants during studio sessions, lunch, pre‑camp and post‑camp care, breaks, etc.
- Provide positive solutions for problem resolution, encourage dialogue, and seek support for behavioral and disciplinary discussions from the Director of Community Education
- Oversee camp counselors as they engage in the classroom and transition time supervision
- Facilitate parent drop‑off and pick‑up of participants in a safe, organized manner
- Form diverse leaders of character;

- Excellent communication skills and customer service‑oriented attitude with parents, campers and workshop attendants between ages of 15‑18
- Experience working in a stay away camp setting or as a resident hall assistant in a college dorm
Some college education
Required ExperiencePrevious experience as a Resident Hall Assistant or in an stay away camp setting. First aid certification preferred.
The selected candidate will be required to complete a background check satisfactory to the University.
