The Nashville VA Medical Center invites visionary healthcare education leaders to apply for the role of Designated Education Officer (DEO) also known as the Associate Chief of Staff for Education (ACOS-E). This is a pivotal senior leadership position responsible for shaping the future of health professions education across one of the nation's most dynamic VA healthcare systems.
As the DEO, you'll oversee all health professions training programs - ensuring excellence in clinical education, patient care, and academic integrity. Working closely with the VA Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA) and our distinguished academic partners, you'll lead initiatives that sustain and elevate the quality of training for our interprofessional learners and residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership and oversight of Health Professions Education (HPE) programs, from accreditation to policy implementation.
Maintain and evaluate program quality, ensuring safe, effective, and compliant learning environments.
Strengthen and manage relationships with affiliate academic institutions.
Oversee education funding, trainee appointments, and accreditation activities across multiple health professions.
Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, program directors, and faculty, driving continuous improvement in education and clinical training quality.
Advocate for educational innovation and ensure the VA remains a premier learning site for future healthcare professionals.
