Job SummaryImplements and delivers basic and advanced interactive, scenario‑based learning programs for resuscitation techniques, skills, and knowledge. Utilizes communication, adult learning concepts, and technical skills to meet training program objectives as an AHA certified trainer.
Delivers Basic Life Support (BLS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) courses. Serves as AHA Training Center Faculty, resource person, consultant, and liaison to the VUMC community.
Full time, Monday–Friday, business hours.
Shape the future of life‑saving care at Vanderbilt Health by teaching resuscitation skills, conducting competency assessments, mentoring instructors, and supporting system‑wide resuscitation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Teach BLS, CPR, ACLS, PALS, and related courses following AHA and VUMC guidelines.
- Conduct hands‑on skills assessments and cognitive evaluations to verify learner competency.
- Apply adult learning principles, simulation techniques, and scenario‑based instruction.
- Prepare, maintain, and troubleshoot course materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Serve as Course Director or Lead Instructor as needed.
- Collaborate with clinical teams on resuscitation‑related programs and quality improvement efforts.
- Required:
- 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
- Experience in resuscitation training, CPR/BLS instruction, or clinical education.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills.
- Preferred:
- Licensed Respiratory Therapist, Registered Nurse (RN), or Paramedic.
- Current AHA BLS Instructor certification.
- ACLS/PALS Instructor certification (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe).
- Experience as Course Director, instructor mentor, simulation educator, or Training Center Faculty.
